Fort 001, Mumbai

Fort001 aptly carries this number 1 quotient for their casual dinning, delicious veg cuisine. "

I saw there was a buzz all around Instagram with this new Fort001 restaurant. I got to know later that they only serve veg cuisine. Finally this Saturday I could go here for lunch.

The theme of this decor is very casual and quirky. Cosy sitting options, high chairs, stools, big windows, funny grafiti on walls. They also have some wonderful board games to play while you await your food.  Along with this, they serve veg fusion menu with their best hospitality.

We were lucky enough to have the owner Mr Hars Parekh himself handling our table. Very coureous, always smile on the face, great knowledge of hospitality he made our lunch experience a memorable one.

Lets see what we ordered : (Some of the dishes were recommended by the owner Mr Parekh and they really provded to be awesome)

::: Soups :::

1) Dumpling Soup : Delicious aromatic clear soup had the small veg stuffed dumplings and the taste was simply amazing.

2) Broccoili Almond Soup : I was surprised with the name, but it certainly won my heart. Creamy soup with the broccoli and then almond paste gives a rich aroma and taste.

3) Veg Pumpkin & Garlic Soup : Very few times I have finished my entire bowl of soup and it happened here with this soup. Perfect flavour of roasted pumpkin and the garlic with creamy soup.

::: Salads :::

1) Palak Pata Chat : I was reluctant to try this, however as per their recommendation I thought to give a try. I simply loved this great combination with a salad. The spinach leaves were crunchy, with sweet potatoes, pomegrenate, chat masala. Quite a tasty and unique salad I must say.

::: Appetizers :::

1) Hariyali Paav Bhaji : This is their winner, star dish! The regular red pav bhaji is green here due to use of green tomatoes. Bite sized buttery paav stuffed with this green bhaji. Simply amazing comibination and the taste is perfect.

2) Nachos with Cheese sauce : Classic Nachos with melted cheese, just supreme option. Wish they could serve drinks too.

3) Ruzali Cottage Cheese : Wonderful looking cottage cheese rolls stuffed with bell peppers and indian masalas. Simply amazing with the balanced taste of spices, cheese.

4) Misal Fondue : Their star dish, a traditional Maharashtrian Misal fusion turned into a fondue. Amazing presentation, the Misal served on the proper fondue vessel, and the paav is small bread cubes. I was amazed to see the Jain version of this Misal here. I did not feel for a moment that it is not a regular maharashtrian favorite spicy misal. Though it is a bit sweet because of cheese and the palate of their main patrons being Gujrati people. Though I loved the experiment!

5) Corn and Spinach Tempura : Crispy fried spinach and Corn on fried crispy noodles served with some chat masala. The concept is quite tasty but it was more on a sweet side.

::: Mains :::

1) Paneer Lababdar : The classic preparation famous for its creamy and delicious curry is here as well. Their presentation is quie tempting as the thick gravy is topped by some cream and served with tawa parathas.

2) Dal Makhni : Dal Makhni can never be wrong but here I am amazed that without onion garlic a total jain version impressed me with its richness, aroma, flavour. Totally wonderful preparation truly deserves a mention.

3) Khow Suey : A Burmese cuisine, they have made it the best way they can. Perfect red curry with several condiments.

4) Thai Curry : We had green Thai Curry with steam rice. I must say a veg Thai Curry never tasted so good. Almost authentic Thai flavours and the aroma of the curry with that long rice grains just amazing. The quantity also is huge and we four could enjoy fully.

::: Mocktails :::

We tried Bora Bora, Mango Mint, Basil Martini, Chatka Mary, Passion Fruit Sensation, Peach Iced Tea and 001 Chocolate Shake almost all drinks here. I found Strawberry Lemonade and Fruit Punch to be wonderful.

::: Desserts :::

Surprisingly the desserts here are quite different and unique. They have only 3 options to choose, so you will not be confused at the end of your meal what to order. These 3 options are literally competing with same level of demand from their diners.

1) The Original Monster Cookie : Mind you this is big boys game! A huge freshly baked chocolate chip cookie at the base and then some chocolate sauce and an Ice cream scoop. Once the hot plate arrives on table, it spreads the aroma across the restaurant. Simply superb aroma of sweet goodness, you take a spoon and cut through the cookie and take some ice cream and wow!! This one is highly recommended and it is quite popular. I think I can go here again just for this Monster Cookie some day.

2) Chocolate Bath : A Deadly bath, just the chocolate and chocolate in a huge bowl. There is chocolate cake, nutella, chocolcate chips, chocolate ice cream, brownie and some whipped cream! Need I say more about it? I am sure you must be craving for it right now. Go and try it!

They also have a Nutella Pizza, but we could not try that because we already had enough of stuff. Next time maybe...

:::: Service ::::

This casual dinning cafe is certainly a good place to hangout with your friends, loved ones. The service is surely a top notch. Right from booking a table to ordering your food, serving food you will experience the best hospitality. Owner Harsh was a perfect host for us, recommended some amazing dishes that we missed out. The servers were courteous, polite and quick to serve. The board games also offered while you wait for the food.

:::: Ambiance ::::

Being a casual dinning cafe, the ambiance is quite casual, quirky. The mirrors on walls, graffiti, the hanging lights make this place look very pleasant.

Overall this place is a good option for Vegetarians who would like some fusion menu. With their pricing and the quantity it is very much a good deal to dine here.
